Gurney Environmental Provides Treatment Upgrade for 2.5 million Population City in Bolivia

Tuesday, 23 August 2011 21:00

In late 2009, Gurney Environmental Ltd. completed the installation of an internationally tendered, World Bank funded project to address wastewater processing issues in the city of Santa Cruz de la Sierra, Bolivia. The 2.5 million population city’s infrastructure is under stress due to significant population growth. The wastewater treatment plant (wwtp) had been in an overloaded condition resulting in low rates of processing, sludge accumulation and odour issues. The operations company, SAGUAPAC, owns and operates the wwtp, which is located in a northern suburb of the city.

Anglian Water Commission Fourth
"Advanced Lagoon" Wastewater Treatment System

Sunday, 13 September 2009 12:00

In 2008 Anglian Water started construction on an unusual and somewhat unique wastewater treatment plant for the village of Sutton St. James in the Lincolnshire fens. A first for Anglian Water and, indeed, for any English water company, the wwtp was a significant departure from what had previously been the norm. Understandably, the new design was subjected to extensive capex, opex and carbon footprint scrutiny by the Anglian Water team. In the end, the Aero-Fac® treatment system was chosen as the best solution for their customers at Sutton St. James.

Testimonials

We've already found that the ponds work a lot better, they are a lot cleaner and functionally look a lot better than what they were previously. It seems to be working at this stage, so we're quietly confident that it's going to be a good investment.

Richard Kirby Regional Sewerage Business Unit Manager Nelson, New Zealand

...there is no doubt about it, the ResMix system works! Having started with a volatile and inconsistent chlorine residuals in our supply, we are now using the WEARS product to mix and dose our tanks. We are not alone in our experiences here. All I can say is that the results speak for themselves.

Doug Moorby Manager of Engineering Operations Norromine Shire, Australia

Adding the Accel-o-Fac® system to South Gippsland Water treatment cells where traditional surface aeration was previously used allowed the corporation to significantly reduce energy use. The savings in kWh are excellent with one application saving 72% in energy compared to the previous year.

Brett Vurlow South Gippsland Water Victoria, Australia

The fact that there is no associated sewage odours [with the Accel-o-Fac wwtp] meant that the system could be located relatively near to the village, and, after 10 years of use, no sludge removal has been needed.

Stephen Twyford Land & Property Department, Holkham Estate, Norfolk, UK

These results show that the [ResMix] mixer is providing a fully mixed water column and preventing conditions for manganese and nutrient release from the sediments.

Stuart Holden Process Engineer, United Utilities Engineering Ridgegate Reservoir

We are very pleased to be using this innovative management system in the reservoir at Pontsticill. This investment will improve the water quality for customers in the area and ensure they continue to receive a top quality supply of drinking water long into the future.

Roy Samuel Capital Delivery Manager, Welsh Water - Dwr Cymru

The Aero-Fac system at Windsor has to date met and exceeded our consent discharge levels, and we have been very happy with the system installed.
