On the 24th July Gurney Environmental completed the installation for South West Water of a ResMix 3000 ‘Source Management’ System for their Wistlandpound Reservoir. The ResMix 3000 replaced an existing compressed air system for BGA control and is the first ResMix system for SWW. Furthermore, the new Resmix 3000 is able to reduce energy requirements by almost 90%!
Raw Water Pretreatment
Cost effective, simple to install and with very low energy consumption (<10% of a compressed air system), ResMix provides sustainable, year-round ‘Source Management’ for the first time. The largest system, the ResMix 5000cc, consists of two counter rotating, surface-mounted, large axial flow mixers. The units can transfer 20 tonnes of oxygenated water from the surface to the bottom of a reservoir every second, not only eliminating thermal stratification but also increasing net dissolved oxygen levels throughout the water column. The ResMix 3000 is a smaller version of the 5000cc.

Savings For SWW
Chris Rockey, head of water quality for SWW, recently said:
“The ResMix is an innovative replacement of the system used previously and will provide better mixing more efficiently while using less energy due to its ingenious design.”
