Accel-o-Fac® wastewater treatment system for the Severn & Wye Smokery in Gloucestershire providing a zero carbon footprint strategy for the business.

Gurney Environmental completed the final stages of the installation of their exclussive Accel-o-Fac® wastewater treatment system for the Severn & Wye Smokery in Gloucestershire in July of 2016. The Accel-o-Fac wastewater treatment system was chosen by the Severn & Wye Smokery for a number of important reasons linked to a zero carbon footprint strategy.

  • System uses wind as main power source
  • Virtually no ongoing operations or maintenance requirements
  • No sludge handling, disposal costs or regulations
  • No odours or noise
  • Long-life capital equipment

The Accel-o-Fac wastewater treatment system is a well proven, time-tested and highly sustainable ‘all-in-one’ treatment system ideally suited to the needs of the Smokery. Accel-o-Fac provides users with an extremely robust, odour-free wastewater treatment system that requires little in the way of operator attention or maintenance and, best of all, no sludge handling, removal or regulation. Truly a complete and total ‘all-in-one’ on-site treatment system.

System Proven For A Decade At Holkham

The Severn & Wye system is similar to the Accel-o-Fac wwtp constructed at Holkham Village & Estate in Norfolk 10 years ago. Stephen Twyford from Holkham Estate’s Land & Property Department commented, "The system continues to provide a low cost and low maintenance solution to wastewater treatment for Holkham Village with additional capacity for any needed future increase. The fact that there is no associated sewage odours meant that the system could be located relatively near to the village, and, after 10 years of use, no sludge removal has been needed.”

Gurney Environmental were chosen to supply the specially designed Accel-o-Fac system at Severn & Wye to provide an effective treatment solution that would cost-effectively handle the variable design flows and loadings from the Smokery. The Accel-o-Fac system is uniquely capable of handling significant variations in both flow and loading, and can accommodate further development of the Smokery business.

The Accel-o-Fac system offers owners and operators significant benefits in both OPEX and CAPEX savings as compared to treatment alternatives such as activated sludge or SBR’s operating at up to 95% less. The results are incredibly low total life costs (TOTEX) and initial capital cost recovery.

What Our Clients Say

Aero-Fac® Wastewater Treatment System

"For 20 years the Aero-Fac@ system at Errol has met our consent discharge levels, had no odour issues and we have not required any sludge removal. Although it was not such a high consideration 20 years ago, Errol also supports Scottish Water’s moves to becoming carbon neutral."
